Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) has quietly soft-launched a new credit card called the BPI Free+ Card, expanding its lineup with a product aimed at customers looking for a simpler, lower-cost option.
While BPI has not yet released a formal public announcement for the new card, the BPI Free+ Card is already appearing on its website, indicating that the product is now part of the bank’s card portfolio.
Based on details currently available, the BPI Free+ Card comes with no annual fees forever, a lower 2.5% finance charge, and an Interest Eraser feature that gives cardholders 15% cashback on interest when they pay the Minimum Amount Due (MAD) on time. It is currently being offered on an exclusive basis to select BPI depositors, who have reportedly been notified directly by the bank through email and SMS.
At this stage, the launch remains limited. Applications for the card are not yet open to the general public, and customers who did not receive a direct notification from the bank will need to wait until wider availability begins. According to the current rollout details, only the principal card is being issued during this phase, while supplementary cards are expected to be introduced later.
BPI has also indicated that some card features will become available in future updates. For now, cash advance and installments are not yet available for BPI Free+ cardholders. Once these functionalities become available, BPI said it will notify cardholders.
For now, the card looks positioned as a low-maintenance option for eligible customers who want to avoid annual fees while still having access to a BPI credit card. More details, including public availability, supplementary card issuance, and additional features, are expected once the bank moves beyond this initial soft-launch phase.
